Idaho Alpha Phi

Meet Our Chapter President

Welcome to the Beta Zeta Chapter!

My name is Kailyn DeGuzman, and I currently serve as the Chapter President of the Beta Zeta Chapter of Alpha Phi at the University of Idaho. I feel so honored and blessed to represent 85 of the most phenomenal women that I know.

Reminiscing about my membership thus far in the Beta Zeta chapter, there is so much to be grateful for. The person I was running home, the person I am today, and the person I am still becoming have been positively impacted because of Alpha Phi. Not only have I gained sisters, but also many life skills and characteristics that consistently grow each day I walk through the doors of Alpha Phi. I am forever thankful to be able to share a home with my best friends and share my college memories with those I love each day.

Alpha Phi’s history begins in 1872 with ten empowering women who took the courageous leap to overcome societal barriers. I notice the same ideals of character, innovation, generosity, and sisterhood that our founders embodied in each of my sisters. Each day spent in this house; I continue to see these ideals shine. Small acts like grabbing coffee (usually stopping all the different coffee shops in town to get the specific drinks we love), supporting each other’s academics and other endeavors (knowing hugs and high fives are waiting for me after taking the test I studied all week for), drives around Greek row (screaming our new favorite song we just discovered for the week), and all of the many ways we say ‘I love you’, are just a few ways I have observed the true love and support that fills this home. Each woman brings an immense amount of support and a bright light that continues to grow. Through the rollercoaster that life takes us on, the good and the hard days, Alpha Phi is an invisible string that ties each woman together in these moments. I have been privileged enough to witness what ‘Union hand in hand’ truly means being a part of Beta Zeta.

The Alpha Phi and Greek community overall here in Moscow has become a home away from home. In just one year, I have found my future bridesmaids, continuously held myself to a high academic standard to receive a spot on the Dean’s List each semester, joined various organizations and groups on campus, and been involved heavily in this community. I feel none of this could have been accomplished without the kindness and sisterhood of my support system at Beta Zeta. I am beyond thankful for my sisters and their love guiding this chapter and me to be in this position I am today. I don’t know what I would do without Alpha Phi and all of the women who make the Beta Zeta Alpha Phi house a home.

Leading this organization is a true honor and I am endlessly grateful for the bonds of this sisterhood that continue to unite us. I am confident that we will create an incredible year filled with growth, generosity, cherished memories, community, and so much love.

My absolute best,

Kailyn DeGuzman
